About Serkan Çağrı:
I was born in Keşan as a child of a musician family. In my childhood, my instruments were my toys; people around me were using the music language to express themselves. In an environment like this, I started to discover the language of clarinet and to express myself with it. I was nearly as tall as a clarinet so I was getting attention. I enjoyed the comments about how talented I was. When I was thirteen, I had a special award in a clarinet contest among older clarinetists, and this award gave me the courage I needed. However, my clarinetist father was not happy about my ongoing interest and success in clarinet. I did not understand my father in the beginning when he said ‘’don’t be a clarinetist or be a really good one’’. I can never thank enough to my father for leading me to education. Within conservatory education, my dreams started to be real one by one.

I became a clarinet instructor in conservatory; published albums; gave concerts in different parts of the World; had an academic career; joined various projects with worldwide-known musicians; had my name on a clarinet as a brand by one of the best companies; wrote the first G clarinet instructions book in Turkey; prepared and presented TV shows; became the subject of a doctoral thesis; started and continued successfully my long-lasting dream International Clarinet Festival and so on...I have experienced those and many more because of my conservatory education.

I owe many things in my life to my love at the first sight wife. We got married, had two beautiful kids. We named the first as Nefes and second as Eser. I really do not have projects about them to become musicians; but if they will, I would leave the stage to them. Learning is an important process for me, everyday I try to learn new things and to teach them to others. And finally, I believe in my dreams, the most.
